HP Calc

CUTTING AND PASTING NUMBERS INTO HP CALC

You can use the 95LX's CUT and PASTE features to bring numbers into, and copy them from, HP CALC. Let's say you have a MEMO note that refers to a $23.50 cash withdrawal you made from one of those automatic teller machines (ATM). Copy this to an HP CALC LIST using the following steps.

First, with the MEMO note open, move the cursor to the beginning of the number, press (F9) (Mark), move the cursor to the end of the number and press (F2) (Copy). Next, press (HPCALC) (MENU) List. Move the cursor to the location in the list that you want to insert the number. Press and hold down (CTRL) to expose the COPY and PASTE keys, and press (F4) (PASTE). The copied number appears at the bottom of the screen. Press (ENTER) and the pasted number placed on the list. The new sum appears at the bottom of the screen. Last, press (ENTER) to Add, or (F10) (LIST-) to subtract the number from your running total.

You cannot copy individual items from LIST to another function. If you press (CTRL) (F2) (COPY) when you are in LIST, the 95LX copies what ever total is in the Calc line at the bottom of the screen (below the horizontal line and above the menu).

(For more on LIST, see page 23-7 of the HP 95LX User's Guide or Basic Tips, page 49 of the Sep/Oct issue of The HP Palmtop Paper.)
